A little tongue-in-cheek ...

Not to be taken seriously, but this is too funny not to share. A lot of it rang true, especially thinking back to my first Yoga classes...

That Spot...

I’ve noticed, like any other classroom…  Yogis seem to adopt a certain “spot” in the studio. Every time you come to class, you head straight over. Me? I tend to head to class super early just to ensure I get that spot. Crazy, right? You also know when you’ve inadvertently placed your mat in a  spot where someone else is accustomed to practicing. They walk in, meet your eye, then stand still for a few moments looking around the room like a lost puppy.
But one lesson in Yoga is to let go of your attachments. Move out of your comfort zone. I remember when my Yoga studio renovated. They flipped the studio around so that we were facing a completely different wall. I remember being so disoriented during my first class after that.
I’ve been slowly working my mat further away from the wall where I tend to place it. For one thing, the wall is holding me back from becoming stronger in my balance, and for another, I think I put myself there because I’m insecure with being “out in the open”. Time to break out of that shell. Let go of the attachment.  Who knows, maybe next time I’m there I’ll stick myself in the middle of the room. ;)
Change is good!
Do you have a “spot” in your Yoga class?
